WHAT IS TAI CHI?
The ancient art of Tai Chi uses gentle flowing movements to reduce the stress of today's busy lifestyles and improve health. Tai chi is sometimes described as "meditation in motion" because it promotes serenity through gentle movements — connecting the mind and body. Originally developed in ancient China for self-defense, Tai Chi evolved into a graceful form of exercise that's now used for stress reduction and to help with a variety of other health conditions.
To do Tai Chi, you perform a series of postures or movements in a slow, graceful manner. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion. These rhythmic patterns of movement are coordinated with breathing to help you achieve a sense of inner calm. Most forms of Tai Chi are gentle and suitable for everyone. So you can practice Tai Chi regardless of your age or physical ability.
WHAT IS QIGONG?
Qigong (Chi Kung) is a five thousand-year-old traditional form of Chinese energy exercise and healing for the body, mind, and spirit. So think of Qi (Chi or Ki) as the natural energy in a person’s body. Over time a person’s Qi can stagnate or dissipate due to stress, aging, and other factors. When this happens one becomes more susceptible to disease. When this energy is rebalanced, health is restored. During Qigong practice, specific exercises are performed to open the Qi channels, remove blockages, and to cultivate or store Qi in the body. Eventually, the student learns how to lead or direct Qi to specific areas of the body, balancing the yin and yang energies and keeping the body in harmony.
Qigong can be practiced standing or sitting down and is suitable for all ages.

ABOUT CAROLINA'S CLASS
Carolina Sartain was introduced to the practice of yoga when she was a teenager in her home country of Chile. When she came to the USA she decided to take her practice to a more serious level by getting her 200 hour teacher training certification at Peachtree Yoga Center in Atlanta. Carolina loves yoga as a healing practice that renovates mind, spirit, and body. She encourages her students to practice on a consistent basis so they can gain results in the short and long term. As a lifelong learner she is very curious and always learning and renewing her practice and teachings. She has had the opportunity to learn from various well-known yogis and yoginis such as Wah! Snatam Kaur, Akasha and Manju Jois (Pattabhi Jois eldest son). Carolina is a caring teacher that listens to her students’ needs so she can adapt and modify the practice of yoga to the different types of participants. She has attended various yoga and meditation workshops and retreats at CSA (GA), Peachtree Yoga (GA) and Yogaville (VA). Carolina and her husband Chris were initiated in the practice of Kriya yoga in 2009 under the guidance of a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda. Carolina’s intention is to assist others on the spiritual path of yoga and to help them maximize their potential. Her yoga practice focuses on vinyasa flow, power yoga, breathing, and meditation. Carolina also developed a Kids' Yoga program for public schools in GA in 2010-2011. Currently she is doing more research to find out how yoga can positively affect the learning experience of children in school. She has offered yoga for kids in the North Georgia area since 2010. Carolina and her husband Chris are currently offering a 200 YTT at Heart Center Therapy in Dunwoody, GA.
